Pupils get on their bikes

Year 6 pupils from Newnham Primary School brought their bikes into school to take part in their first ‘Bikeability’ lesson.

Designed to improve cycling proficiency, ‘Bikeability' aims to give children the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today's roads.

In the first session the children put their cycling skills to the test and were introduced to the Highway Code.

Kim Cresswell, Headteacher, said: “We believe that encouraging children to get on their bikes is very important. ‘Bikability’ not only allows children to feel more confident about making journeys on their own, it is a great way to keep you fit and healthy and of course to have fun."
