Newnham artists are competition winners

Two pupils at Newnham Primary School were recently named winners of the DRET art competition, in their respective age bands.

Connie, aged 7, and Lily, aged 9, both won after submitting their paintings of ducks. At the time of submitting their works, pupils were studying ducks, so their entries were themed on this subject.

Connie, submitted Duck Bay (below) and ‘drew three ducks swimming on a pond in the moonlight’ whereas Lily, submitted Family Duck Pond (above) which shows ‘a happy family of ducks doing what they do best - paddling in the pond looking for tasty food.’

Mr Sutton, Executive Headteacher at Newnham Primary School, said: “We are very proud of Connie and Lily for winning the DRET art competition in their age categories.

"The girls were very excited to receive their wonderful prizes and this has inspired them to keep working hard.”
