Characters come to life for World Book Day
Thursday 5th March was World Book day across the UK and at Newnham all the children dressed up as their favourite characters and had a special assembly.
The rest of the day was dedicated to a variety of activities with the theme of ‘Stone Soup” – a traditional folk story.
The children were split into mixed age house groups and rotated round the activities which included writing blurbs using Chromebooks, making a collage of giant vegetables, writing acrostic poems, painting their character onto a stone and, of course, making and eating vegetable soup!
Mr Mead, class teacher for Years 1 and 2, said: “it is always a great day and the children really enjoyed the activities. One of them said to me: ’I wish it could always be book day!’”
